This day was meant to celebrate this apex predator, but recently it is mostly used to raise awareness to the plight of this species.
And though in some areas the lion population is finally stable or even on the rise, they are still at risk due to human-wildlife conflict, poaching and habitat loss.
So what can you do?
Make trophy hunting illegal!
Contribute to better anti- poaching units!
Donate to conservation organizations.
Educate the local community.
Travel to these countries, showing their governments that a live lion is worth more in tourists’ money than a dead lion.

I hope that our kids and grandchildren will get to see the “kids and grandkids” of these lions and cubs…
