A silverback gorilla can appear calm while observing visitors, but that doesn't mean it welcomes close approaches. Gorillas are powerful wild animals that use displays, vocalizations and charges to communicate when they feel threatened or disturbed.
A charge doesn't necessarily mean the animal intends to attack. Sometimes the display itself is a warning designed to make the perceived threat retreat. For an inexperienced observer, however, seeing a huge silverback suddenly rush forward can be terrifying.
That creates a powerful lesson for wildlife content: a warning from a wild animal is already a moment worth respecting. The most responsible wildlife videos show the encounter without encouraging viewers to imitate risky behavior.
