A safari vehicle can make people feel protected, but that doesn't mean animals see the vehicle as a barrier. Lions may approach cars out of curiosity, especially when they become accustomed to safari vehicles passing through their territory.
One particularly dramatic type of encounter is when a lion approaches a vehicle and investigates a door or window. From inside the vehicle, even a calm lion suddenly feels enormous when its face is only a few feet away.
These encounters are perfect for short-form wildlife storytelling because the danger is immediately understandable. “The Lion Walked Straight Toward the Car…” is enough to make viewers stop scrolling and watch what happens next.
